THE RIGHTEOUS SCEPTRE

THE RIGHTEOUS SCEPTRE
A panorama of authority comes to mind when one thinks of sceptre. Examples abound on categories of authority but sceptre brings to the fore, a picture of monarchical authority. A king settled in full regalia usually does not leave out his sceptre.
Sceptre (also known as staff of office, mace, rod, insignia, wand) is a long staff usually with an ornamental head and other decorations, used to represent royal influence; a shorter staff is used as a battle mace to symbolize royal military power. This ceremonial royal emblem, through history had been wielded by many monarchs in absolute power. A situation that affords one person the hereditary rights to rule over a people of set territorial boundary through his life time. They usually accord supremacy.
Cherubic attendants service before the Throne of The Most High, Jesus Christ sits on that throne in the place of authority. He has been anointed by God The Father and is enthroned forever and ever. ...“Your throne O God is forever and ever, and the sceptre of your kingdom is a sceptre of absolute righteousness” Hebrews 1: 8; Psalms 45: 6.
The Righteous Sceptre is wielded with justice. God loves uprightness and hates wickedness, therefore He shows no partiality and is no respecter of persons (Acts 10: 34). The pre-eminent status of Jesus as Great High Priest is ordained by God; None other high priest was called “Great”. Jesus alone is simultaneously the Son Of God and the Son of man. As such, He is superior to everyone else in the whole creation history! He occupies the supreme position as both our Great High Priest and King. God affirms this with an oath. “You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek” Psalms 110: 4. No such oath accompanied the appointment of other priests. Jesus Christ institutes a better covenant (A New Covenant). Melchizedek’s name means king of righteousness and his title means king of peace. Both of these titles are associated with He who wields the Righteous Sceptre.
The extent of the influence of the Righteous Sceptre knows no boundaries. God is Almighty and Most High. He is Sovereign over all things (living and non-living). He oversees the whole of existence (in Heaven, the firmament, the universe and even in hell). “Where could I go from your Spirit? Or whence could I flee from your presence? If I ascend up into Heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in sheol, behold, you are there” Psalms 139: 7&8.
The influence of my Father, who sits upon The Great White Throne and wields the Righteous Sceptre, transcend cultures and territorial boundaries. Scriptures affirm that the fullness of the world is under His authority, so you see, His influence supersedes any form of imagined or real barriers!
It mostly gladdens my heart that despite this great influence of authority, Jesus still sympathizes with our weaknesses. “For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptations, but one who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning” Hebrews 4: 15.
Beloved, we must cling especially to this assurance this season that God calls us to wait on Him in fasting and prayers. “For the sceptre of wickedness shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous”... Psalms 125: 3.
This time, God is set to ...“pass through the sea of distress and affliction (of His own) as He did at the Red Sea; and He will smite down the waves of the sea and all the depths of the River Nile shall be dried up and put to shame; ... and the sceptre of the task masters shall pass away” Zechariah 10: 11.
You think that the events around your life have gone foul; your once melodious musical notes have become discordant, He has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a SOUND MIND (2Timothy 1: 7). This is the best time to hold firmly the faith we profess in Christ. So then, “let us fearlessly and confidently draw near to the throne of grace that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in good time for every need” Hebrews 4: 16.
Child of Light, you have tried and failed; for so deep grief, you find no relief and your sad heart aches till it nearly breaks!
O yes, He sees, He knows and understands!
O yes, He cares, I know He cares!
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary and the long nights dreary,
I know my Saviour cares!
The Righteous Sceptre is the influence of my Father. His authority will “break the staff of the wicked and the sceptre of the tyrant” Isaiah 14: 5.
The Righteous Sceptre of justice is set to stop the devil. “The Lord said to satan, ‘The Lord rebuke you, satan’... Is not this the man (this chosen of God) a burning stick snatched from the fire? ” Zechariah 3: 2.
